Ilya Polyakov
Principal Consultant
I help organisations turn security spending into security architecture.
After years working in enterprise security across major financial institutions, government agencies, and critical infrastructure, I’ve seen the same pattern: organisations invest heavily in cyber, but without the architectural foundation to connect those investments to business outcomes. Tools get bought. Compliance boxes get ticked. But the architecture that should tie it all together is either missing or an afterthought.
That’s where I operate — at the intersection of business strategy and technical security design. I work with CISOs, CIOs, and boards to build security architectures that are driven by risk appetite and business logic, not vendor roadmaps.
My focus areas include enterprise security architecture (SABSA methodology), cybersecurity strategy development, security governance and compliance (Essential Eight, IRAP, APRA CPS 234, SOCI Act), and providing senior security leadership to organisations that need strategic direction without the overhead of a full-time CISO.
I believe security architecture is a business discipline, not just a technical one. If your organisation is navigating digital transformation, cloud migration, or regulatory complexity — and you need someone who’s done the architecture work, not just managed a team that did — feel free to connect.
